Founded in 2016, Farida Girls Foundation is a women's rights organization dedicated to empowering women and girls to actively participate in governance, leadership, policymaking, and decision-making, while advocating for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The foundation focuses on creating safe, inclusive, youth-friendly, and gender-sensitive spaces that alleviate the unique hardships faced by vulnerable and marginalized community members.
FGF focuses its localized operations within Nairobi's informal settlements. The organization conducts direct program operations in Mathare Sub-County, while utilizing strategic community partnerships to extend its operational reach to Kibera, Mukuru, and Korogocho.
All of the foundation's interventions and community programs are strictly built upon five core foundational values:

The Pad Bank is a first-of-its-kind initiative established in the Mathare informal settlement to prioritize menstrual health and dignity. It ensures that vulnerable adolescent girls and young women receive essential dignity packs—including sanitary towels, soap, and underwear at least once a month. By removing the financial barrier to menstrual products, the initiative successfully eliminates school absenteeism and enhances academic engagement.
FGF delivers comprehensive SRHR advocacy through a multi-layered community workflow:
Workshops: Running interactive sessions in schools and community centers covering puberty, safe relationships, and contraceptive methods.
Peer Educator Training: Equipping local young women to deliver culturally sensitive health information as relatable role models.
Arts for Advocacy: Utilizing drama, music, and dance to challenge harmful societal norms and reduce health stigmas.
Health Service Linkages: Partnering with local health facilities to provide direct medical referrals for affordable reproductive care.
Community Forums: Engaging parents and guardians directly to foster a supportive home environment for adolescent girls.
FGF Clubs utilize creative platforms like music, dance, singing, and theater to nurture talent, build vital life skills, and create economic opportunities for youth. The clubs host regular training sessions, including weekly vocal classes to help girls overcome stage fright and develop public speaking confidence. They also conduct weekly tap, modern, and traditional African dance sessions at Brilliant Primary School and Caso Upendo Primary to encourage teamwork and emotional well-being.

Successfully reached more than 8,000 girls in informal settlements through the distribution of critical dignity packs.
Empowered over 3,000 girls with comprehensive SRHR education and actionable life skills training.
Pioneered the first-ever monthly Pad Bank infrastructure in the Mathare settlement.
Honored internationally with the prestigious Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award for exceptional volunteer leadership and youth empowerment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
FGF collaborates with local, regional, and international development organizations to implement its programs. Valuable community partners include Nairobits Trust, Mathare North Youth Organization, They dance for rain, Moja stitch for education, and We Masomo. Additionally, the foundation is a recognized corporate beneficiary of Safaricom’s Ndoto Zetu Initiative, which supported their dignity drives with a sanitary towel donation valued at Kshs. 100,000.

Direct Operations: FGF anchors its primary presence in Mathare Sub-County , with its head office located at Kiboro Primary School off Juja Road. It also conducts weekly enrichment programs directly inside Brilliant Primary School and Caso Upendo Primary.
Strategic Partnerships: To foster collective learning and broad collaboration, the organization successfully extends its program reach into the informal settlements of Kibera, Mukuru, Korogocho, and Dandora.
