Youth-Led Mediation, Dialogue, and Violence Prevention

Instability and localized conflicts in urban informal settlements often disproportionately threaten the safety, education, and physical autonomy of adolescent girls and young women. At Farida Girls Foundation, our Voices for Peace initiative explicitly positions young women at the frontlines of grassroots peacebuilding and community cohesion. We transform potential vulnerabilities into bold leadership opportunities, training youth to actively prevent violence, defuse local tensions, and cultivate lasting social harmony.

By establishing community dialogue circles and youth-led mediation networks, we bridge deep social divides and heal historical fractures. The program provides young women with a safe, structured platform to advocate for justice, tolerance, and civic rights, building a peaceful foundation where every resident can safely thrive.

Cultivating Cohesion in Our Neighborhoods

We counter insecurity and foster community healing by delivering structured training across six integrated operational pillars:

Our Voices for Peace frameworks unite hundreds of youth across Mathare, Kibera, and Korogocho to lead local peace marches, interactive neighborhood forums, and cross-cultural exchange camps. By leveraging our established FGF Club structures, we weave values of tolerance, active listening, and restorative justice into our holistic safe spaces, empowering young advocates to safely resolve conflicts before they escalate.

Why Youth-Led Peacebuilding Matters

We deploy strategic, non-violent mediation models to cultivate mutual respect, reduce localized crime, and protect vulnerable residents.

Mitigating Vulnerability

Minimizing the direct safety risks, displacements, and gender-based violence that typically spike in communities during times of social unrest.

Community Mediation

Equipping young women to act as neutral, trusted mediators who can peacefully resolve domestic, neighborhood, or marketplace disputes.

Restorative Justice

Utilizing the performing arts within FGF Clubs to tell stories of healing, address trauma, and challenge deeply ingrained systemic biases.

Structural Safety

Formulating close safety networks with local elders, community leaders, and administrative structures to foster holistic security.
